Hi there. I have recently received my results from 23andme but I have a few questions if anyone could help me out please. My results state that my Y Chromosome Haplogroup is R1b1b2a1a and my MtDNA Haplogroup is V. I've been trying to find information about R1b1b2a1a but I haven't found much. R1b1a2a1a : Where is it from? Hello, My father's surname is Johnson, and my Y-DNA Haplogroup is R1b1a2a1a. What is known about this group? My father and his siblings as well as his father looked as though they could have been Greek or even Italian, some look possibly middle-eastern. All have dark skin. What is known about this group? I would love to know. Thank you, MindHive. Haplogroup R-M269, also known as R1b1a1a2, is a sub-clade of human Y-chromosome haplogroup R1b.It is of particular interest for the genetic history of Western Europe. It is defined by the presence of SNP marker M269.R-M269 has been the subject of intensive research; it was previously also known as R1b1a2 (2003 to 2005), R1b1c (2005 to 2008), and R1b1b2 (2008 to 2011 U106, the defining SNP (mutation) of R1b1b2a1a1 - also known as R-U106 - appears to have emerged about 2,500 years ago (about 500 BCE) in Iron Age Western Europe. If there has never been a person at 23andme with the haplogroup R1b1b2a1a reported to have had a no-call for U106, L21, or U152 then I can continue to say with the same certainty as before that he is negative for U106, L21, and U152. That will also be proven with the R1b-M343 SNP backbone test results of his father

Haplogroup R descends from a line that made its way from the Near East to the Far East, then back west towards Europe. R1b-U106 is a patrilineal descended family that appears to descend from an ancestral R1b group located among or near the Yamnaya culture, north of the Black Sea area. The group rose to significance in the area of present Germany and the surrounding areas probably a bit before. Haplogroup B is descended from A and C is descended from B. If we keep going, R is descended from P, etc. Within haplogroup R is SNP R-L11/P310 (R1b1a2a1a ISOGG 2014). There was a boy born somewhere between 3,000 and 10,000 years ago (there is much disagreement on the exact age). This boy was the first male to have this mutation on his Y-chromosome. Paternal Haplogroup - R1b1b2a1a2f From Wikipedia; R1b1b2a1a2f2 This subclade within R-L21 is defined by the presence of the marker M222. It is particularly associated with male lines which are Irish or Scottish, but especially northern Irish. In this case, the relatively high frequency of this specific subclade among the population of certain counties in northwestern Ireland may be due to. This project is for people who have tested and been assigned the paternal haplogroup R-U106 (Y-DNA) and also for people who are believed to have been this paternal haplogroup based on tests done on descendants.. The current naming convention is to use the terminal SNP, so R1b, U106* Also known as R1b1b2a1a (S21+), previously known as R1b1b2
So I got tested at 23andme and it gave me R1b1b2a1a haplogroup. Which is outdated and actually R1b1a2a1a. My question is how would one go about searching through the raw data for SNPs to further find my subblade. I assume I cannot just be R1b1a2a1a which split at I believe the bronze age. I have tried promethease but cannot understand results as it gives me a bunch of results for y haplogroup R1b1b2a1-M405, R1b1b2a1a-M467, R1b1b2a2e-M222, and R1b1b2a2g-U152, with more on the way! Approximately 45% of the GeneTree and SMGF databases are members of haplogroup R. Notes: * A haplogroup designation followed by a * signifies the presence of a haplogroup defining marker but the absence of any other known subclade markers. For example, R1. My paternal haplogroup (R1b1b2a1a) turns out to be from the most common in Western Europe. This is no surprise given my father's family (which came over to Boston a century ago) is from Dublin Haplogroup R1b1b1 (M73), which represents the closest patrilineal relatives of haplogroup R1b1b2 (M269), has been found in SE Europe and SW Asia and at generally low frequencies throughout central Eurasia So R1b1b2a1a is your haplogroup. However 23andme uses a 2009 phylum tree. FTDNA uses a 2011 tree. All haplogroups use a shortcut name. This shortcut name on 23andme can be found under ancestry labs- mutation mapper. All information pertaining to the paternal line is found on the Y-chromosome, and R1b1 is the most dominant paternal line in Western Europe (Haplogroup) and exhibits the P25+ SNP marker. This refinement is mainly of interest to anthropologists rather than to family genealogists, however, but it may indicate very remote ancestry in the area around Dachtel. We also.
And speak for both assignment to the haplogroup R1b1b2a1a and most likely Saxon and the plausibility of the de la Roche relationship. However, with about 6 of 37 of 21 generation from Gilbert de la Roche, as so many mutations over this time are possible, but the results of more distant Nicholas cousins are needed to show which generation mutated on which line, and more genealogical data in. R1b1b2a1a [R1b1 is the most common of European lineages] — My father's mother's mother's mother's father's haplogroup (as derived from a descendant of his brother.) Furthest known ancestor: James Henderson (1815-~1890, Onslow County NC). R1b1b2a1a1 [ditto] — My mother's brother's haplogroup The Nugent Y-Chromosome haplogroup is R1b1b2a1a according to 23andme or R-M269 according to Family Tree DNA, which uses a more modern designation. This result is not very precise and it will take more testing to determine where his Y-chromosome went from there, to the British Isles or north into Germany or Scandinavia. As we get more testing. ----- Original Message ----- From: <mattjolley(a)comcast.net> To: <y-dna-haplogroup-i(a)rootsweb.com> Sent: Wednesday, June 23, 2010 6:38 PM Subject: [yDNAhgI] 2003 Capelli paper A Y Chromosome Census of the BritishIsles > > Regarding the work required to identify haploid groups at the county level > instead of the country level. > > Some reports suggest the majority of today's Basque and. My haplogroup is R1b1b2a1a, a subgroup of R1b1b2, the most common haplogroup in western Europe. R1b1b2a1a1 is most commonly found on the fringes of the North Sea, and is know as the North Atlantic Subgroup. It is about 17,000 years old, being found in Irish, Basque, British and French populations
Haplogroup E3b is often incorrectly described as African, leaving a misimpression regarding the origin and complex history of this haplogroup. Haplogroup J2, as previously discussed, is often incorrectly equated with J1 and described as Jewish or Semitic, despite the fact that it is present in a variety of non-Jewish Mediterranean and Northern European populations R1b-L151/P310/L11 y-Haplogroup Born: prob. In the United States, Haplogroup R1b1 is the most common Y-DNA haplogroup in men of European descent, which is not surprising if most of our ancestors came from northwestern Europe. As of May 2008, nearly 70% of the Y. Haplogroup. In molecular evolution, a haplogroup (from the , haploûs, onefold, single, simple) is a group of similar haplotypes that share a common ancestor having the same single nucleotide polymorphism (SNP) mutation in all haplotypes. Because a haplogroup consists of similar haplotypes, it is possible to predict a haplogroup from haplotypes Board index » DNA Discussion » y-DNA Haplogroups » R Haplogroup (Y-DNA) » R1b Haplogroup » R-P312/S116* & Misc.
